By that time, Carson’s work had caught the eye of Marvin Scott Jarrett, publisher of the alternative-music magazine Ray Gun, and he hired Carson as art director in 1992. Once again, Carson proved himself as he tripled the magazine’s circulation and attracted a wide readership. He designed and art directed the magazine for over 3 years, sending a completed issue to be printed when he finished designing it, with no one approving his designs before printing. Although his covers for Ray Gun were often radical and bold, it fascinated the young readership, thus the big corporations also hired him for their brand advertisements through both print and electronic media.
